Golf Class Teaches Students the Art of Schmoozing

Students in Cynthia Schendel's golf course learn more than how to swing a club. They learn how to swing a deal.

She calls it the "s" factor. As in schmooze.

Although it began as a regular physical-education course, Ms. Schendel, a PE instructor, turned it into a primer for would-be CEO's.

"We want people to see golf as a tool," she says. "There is a lot of business that is done on the golf course, and if they are skilled at wheeling and dealing, it's only going to help
