Going Back to the Drawing Board

For the renowned architect Steven Holl, impressing the competition jury with his design for a new home for Cornell University's architecture school was easier than building a working relationship with its opinionated faculty members.

After months of negotiating modifications to his planned $25-million, seven-story, glass-walled cube, Mr. Holl and the university have announced that they will part ways.
