Gifts to UNCF Reach a Record $139-Million
The United Negro College Fund reported this month that it took in a record $139.2-million during the 1999 fiscal year, a 39-per-cent increase over 1998. William H. Gray III, the fund's president and chief executive officer, attributed most of the increase to growth in bequests and a $41.7-million grant from the Lilly Endowment.
