Getting Financial Aid to Poor Students

To the Editor:

A common theme we hear in higher education today is... affordability of educational opportunities for all students.

As a firm believer in this concept, I was shocked to read in Jeffrey Selingo's article titled "California Aid Program Fails to Reach Many Needy Students" (October 5) that the California Student Aid Commission returned $35-million in potential student aid to the state of California.
