Germany Announces Finalists for $2.4-Billion in Awards to Universities
Eight German universities have made the shortlist for possible designation as "elite" in the second and final phase of the country's program to make higher education more competitive.
The program, a joint project of the federal government and Germany's 16 states, is designed to infuse $2.4-billion in additional financing into select institutions over the five years of each of the two phases.
