Georgia Regents Allow Universities to Use More Lecturers
Georgia's Board of Regents decided last month to let state universities use more full-time lecturers to deal with increasing student enrollments and tight budgets.
The board's new policy allows universities to use nontenured lecturers for 10 percent of full-time faculty jobs, a sharp increase from the current 2 percent. The policy does not affect part-time appointments. Administrators said the full-time lecturers are sometimes needed on a continuing basis and provide more contact with
