Genetically Engineered Corn Found to Kill Monarch Butterflies
The larvae of monarch butterflies die when they eat the pollen of corn plants that have been genetically engineered to be resistant to pests, Cornell University researchers reported in the May 20 issue of Nature.
That finding flies in the face of arguments by biotechnology companies that bioengineered plants are harmful only to pests.
It also raises the threat that genetically modified crops could hurt
