Gay Students' Risk in Leaving 'The Closet'
To the Editor:
Robert A. Rhoads in his January 27 Point of View, "The Campus Climate for Gay Students Who Leave 'the Closet,'" finishes his essay with an example of how he was damaged professionally because he was believed to be gay. I am surprised that Mr. Rhoads did not discover this in his research and/or that he failed to mention it in his writing; that is, students also have a lot to lose by his suggestion of "risk taking" and "leaving 'the closet.'"
