Gannon U. Suit to Proceed
A former chaplain at Gannon University who says she was discriminated against based on her gender may proceed with her lawsuit against the institution, a federal appeals court ruled in late May. The decision, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, conflicts with the rulings of other courts, which have generally held that the government cannot interfere in such employment disputes, based on what legal experts call "the ministerial exception."
