Ga. Court Overrules Baptist College
Shorter College's attempt to sever its ties with the Georgia Baptist Convention violated the law, the state's Supreme Court ruled last week.
In 2002 the college broke with the Baptist group in a dispute over the convention's appointment of Shorter's trustees. That decision had followed a warning from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the regional accreditor, that the college must demonstrate that it is not controlled by outside influences.
