Fund Raisers Debate Effect on Donations of Estate-Tax Repeal
Will the elimination of the estate tax decrease charitable giving?
Many fund raisers at the annual meeting of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education were confident that it will not, but they heard some predictions otherwise.
Opponents of the repeal held that certain types of planned gifts, which under current law are not subject to estate taxes, will become less attractive when the tax is eliminated, in 2010.
