French Researchers Report a Successful Trial of Gene Therapy
In what appears to be the first successful trial of gene therapy, French researchers reported in the April 28 issue of Science that they have bolstered the immune systems of two infants with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) by injecting them with cells containing a normal copy of the gene that the infants lack.
