A fraternity chapter at Miami University, in Ohio, has been suspended indefinitely by its international organization for violations of hazing and alcohol rules, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported today. The punishment of the Phi Gamma Delta chapter stemmed from members’ apparent role in dropping off a group of pledges last month at a state park some 10 miles from the campus. Park rangers said people in the group did not know where they were or how to get back to the campus. They initially lied about what fraternity they were in. Before the university could complete its investigation of the incident, fraternity officials arrived from the parent organization, satisfied themselves that there had been violations, and pulled the plug. —Andrew Mytelka
