Fraternity Chapter Shut Down at U. of South Florida Feels 'Mistreated'

The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity has decided to close its chapter at the University of South Florida after the chapter, already on probation, was accused of hazing and alcohol violations, The Tampa Tribune reported. The national organization deemed the chapter “beyond repair.”

According to a letter sent by the national group, members of the South Florida chapter had behaved “in a manner inconsistent with our brotherhood’s values and ideals” and had “showed no hope for change.” The members will be evicted from the graffiti-covered fraternity house after final examinations. In an interview with the Tribune, the chapter’s vice president denied the allegations of misconduct, saying that the fraternity had been maligned by a disappointed pledge. “We feel mistreated,” he said.
