Foundations' Asset Growth Slows

The nation's foundations gave an estimated $33.6-billion in grants in 2005, an increase of 5.5 percent over 2004. But the outlook for 2006 is not so good.

According to "Foundation Growth and Giving Estimates: Current Outlook," an annual report by the Foundation Center, the growth of foundations' assets remained steady last year but is now slowing down. This will probably result in limited increases in giving in 2006.
