Former Network Administrator Faces Felony Charges in Hacker Case
Local authorities have charged a 25-year-old former computer-network administrator at the University of Oklahoma with using the network to operate a Web site for hackers when he worked there.
Ryan Larry Breding is the only person authorities have charged after a two-year investigation. The inquiry was prompted by an August 1997 incident in which heavy use mysteriously disabled the campus network just as upperclassmen were arriving for the fall term.
