Former Lab Worker Awarded $2.1-Million
A jury has ordered the University of California to pay $2.1-million to a former employee of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory who lost her job at the university-run facility shortly after testifying in a co-worker's sexual-harassment lawsuit.
The employee, Dee Kotla, worked for more than a decade as a computer-support technician at the lab, which is operated by the University of California system under a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy. She was fired in February 1997,
