Foreign Scholars Not Welcome
To the Editor:
The recent report on the denial of U.S. visas to foreign academics usefully highlights how this practice threatens the free exchange of ideas ("Politics Keeps Scholars Out of U.S., Critics Say," The Chronicle, June 15). Exposure to the views of non-American academics helps the vitality of American academe, and the United States should more easily grant visas to foreign scholars.
