Foreign Languages for a Changing World
To the Editor:
I applaud the hard-nosed, skeptical, and candid spirit of Will H. Corral and Daphne Patai in "An End to Foreign Languages, an End to the Liberal Arts" (The Chronicle, June 6). The questions they frame so mordantly seem to me precisely the ones that programs in humanities and foreign languages must debate today, publicly and forthrightly, as institutions of higher education continue to conform to corporate models.
