For Swine Flu, a Little Hype Is Not a Bad Thing, Some Scientists Say

Parts of America fell into a panic recently as swine flu infected the nation’s newspapers.

Reporters, in the opening paragraphs of articles, recalled the flu pandemic of 1918, which killed millions. For a while, they wrote updates whenever new cases were confirmed.
