For-Profit Chains Don't Undercut Missions of Teaching Hospitals, Study Finds

Teaching hospitals that are bought out by for-profit chains remain just as committed to teaching and indigent care, a new study of three teaching hospitals has concluded.

The study, which appears in the March/April issue of the journal Health Affairs, challenges the widespread belief that such transfers of ownership undercut the traditional mission of teaching hospitals.
