The Dartmouth College fraternity that was the inspiration for the 1978 hit movie Animal House was raided on Thursday by the local police, who said the action was part of an investigation stemming from a 2004 incident at the fraternity house. According to the Valley News, a local newspaper, the police provided few specifics but said the search at the Alpha Delta house was not just a routine drug bust. Among other things, police officers took from the house 10 crates and two duffel bags of evidence, as well as two sledge hammers. Fraternity members had no comment, but their lawyer declared the raid “a major interruption.” He didn’t say what was being interrupted.
