For Everything Else, There's ... Student Money?
The cut in state funds that Ventura College, in California, has suffered so far this year: $500,000. The percentage of courses the college consequently cut this semester: 10. The amount of money the community college's student government donated to save several summer classes: $25,000.
When they heard that the cuts in the summer session would be far worse than this semester's, members of the Associated Students of Ventura College volunteered a hefty one-fourth of their own piggy
