Florida Legislature Is Sued Over Tuition

The Board of Governors of Florida's state universities has voted to join a recently filed lawsuit challenging the state Legislature's right to set tuition.

The decision to support the lawsuit, filed this month by former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham and others, was just one strategy approved by the governing board last week to help close a projected budget gap. The panel also agreed to freeze freshman enrollment at current levels, starting in the spring semester of 2008, and to raise tuition
