Fla. President Quits After Admitting Affair
The president of Florida Gulf Coast University has resigned after admitting to an extramarital affair with a faculty member.
William C. Merwin announced that he was stepping down at an emergency meeting of the university's Board of Trustees in mid-January. He had told the 13 members of the board individually about the affair in the days before the public meeting.
