Fixing Graduate Programs in All Disciplines

It seems that every month or so we are treated to an essay by a professor of English about the Ph.D. From that extraordinarily parochial perspective, the professor, who is usually at one of the elite private universities, tells us what is wrong with the Ph.D., the job market, and graduate education.
