Financial Support for Faculty Research

I was pleased to learn of Stanford University's plan to give its assistant professors $5,000 (and up to $15,000 more if awarded tenure) to support their research ("Stanford to Give Grants to Junior Professors," Faculty Notes, November 13). My own institution, Kettering University -- formerly GMI Engineering and Management Institute -- has had a similar but much more generous program for a number
