Few College Libraries Provide Training for Web-Site Designers
Large public colleges and universities skimp on training the staff members who create their libraries' Web pages, a new study suggests.
Most creators of the library sites learned to design Web pages on their own, not in formal classes, according to the study. In general, colleges and universities do not provide financial support for self-instruction or time off to compensate employees for hours they spend learning Web skills.
