Fetal-Tissue Bill Postponed in Nebraska
Nebraska lawmakers who oppose the use of fetal tissue in medical research were thwarted last week in their efforts to ban the state's public colleges from conducting such studies.
Although a majority of the state's 49-member unicameral Legislature appeared to support a bill outlawing such research, the sponsors of the proposed ban were unable to muster the 33 votes needed to end a filibuster by its opponents and bring the bill to a vote.
