Ferrum College Concedes 'Shared Responsibility' in a Student's Suicide
Ferrum College has settled a lawsuit by admitting "shared responsibility" for a student's suicide, in what is apparently the first such acknowledgment by an American college.
In a statement released last month by Ferrum's lawyer, Jonnie L. Speight, the college "acknowledges that there were errors in judgment and communication by [college] personnel" leading up to the death of Michael Frentzel, a freshman who hanged himself in his dormitory room in 2000.
