Female Athletes on the Campus

To the Editor:

I found it disheartening to read Welch Suggs's "Small Colleges Lag on Sports Opportunities for Women" (The Chronicle, June 18).

Although Mr. Suggs usually writes fairly and objectively on Title IX and other collegiate athletics issues, this article unfairly characterizes the situation of women in collegiate sports.
