Federal and State Officials Discuss Cracking Down on Online Diploma Mills

As operators of online diploma mills scurry from one state to another to avoid prosecution, the federal government is looking to work with the states to crack down on the fraudulent institutions.

Officials from state and federal agencies met last month to discuss ways to confront the diploma mills. Among the possibilities is a plan for the U.S. Education Department to compile a list of all legitimate colleges and universities in the United States. Any institution not included on the
