Federal Oversight of Troubled New Jersey Medical University Will End This Month
The U.S. attorney for New Jersey announced on Thursday that a federal monitor's oversight of financial practices of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey would end on December 31.
The move comes two years after the university, which is known as UMDNJ, assented to the federal oversight as part of a 2005 agreement intended to shield the corruption-plagued institution from criminal prosecution on charges of Medicaid fraud (
