Federal Officials Give OK to Boston U. Lab

Federal authorities have given Boston University a green light to build a secure "biosafety" laboratory to study the most dangerous microbes, which might be used by bioterrorists or cause infectious diseases naturally. An environmental-impact statement predicted a "negligible" health risk to the surrounding community even in the event of an explosion inside the building and other worst-case events.
