Federal Court Dismisses U. of Rochester's Suit That Sought Billions for Patent Infringement
The University of Rochester's bid to win billions of dollars in a patent-infringement lawsuit against the sellers of the arthritis drug Celebrex has been derailed by a federal judge's ruling that the university's patent is invalid.
Concurring with arguments by the Pharmacia Corporation and Pfizer Inc. in a hearing last July, Judge David G. Larimer of the U.S. district court in Rochester ruled this month that the university's patent was not specific enough, and ordered the suit
