Federal Agency Seeks Return of Katrina Aid From Dillard U. Students

Hundreds of Dillard University students who received aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation in New Orleans are now being ordered to return the money because they were not eligible to get it, according to an article posted on the Black College Wire. The students are ineligible, FEMA said, because dormitories cannot be considered primary residences, although that rule seems to have been ignored by the federal agency in the chaos that followed the storm. Dillard officials are trying to help the students sort out the problem.
