Fast-Food Fight Erupts in Belarus; Hebrew U. of Jerusalem Starts an Affirmative-Action Program
The McDonald's Corporation and the largest public university in Belarus are in a battle over the right to use land on which a McDonald's restaurant sits.
Workers this month erected a six-foot-high fence around the McDonald's across from the train station in downtown Minsk while Belarus State University was breaking ground next to it on a new wing. Patrons were temporarily denied access to the restaurant.
McDonald's is in the sixth year of an agreement with the city to lease
