Full-time faculty members at MiraCosta College, a two-year institution in California, have overwhelmingly voted no confidence in the leadership of the college’s president, Victoria Muñoz Richart.
Of the 116 faculty members who cast ballots on Thursday, 106 voted for the no-confidence measure, a university spokeswoman said.
Faculty unrest at MiraCosta began in August, when a college administrator was placed on leave in connection with allegations that employees had sold campus palm trees for personal profit, according to an article in the North County Times.
Faculty members have accused Ms. Richart of running a secretive investigation of the scandal and also of intimidating employees. But the college’s governing board has consistently expressed support for Ms. Richart.
