Faculty Union at California State U. Charges That Merit-Pay System Favors Men
California State University's merit-pay system discriminates against women, resulting in raises for female professors that are, on average, 8 percent less than what their male colleagues are earning, according to a study released this month by the California Faculty Association.
The study, the results of which the university disputes, could provide ammunition for opponents of merit pay who have long argued that the discretionary system unfairly privileges men
