Faculty Pressure Helps U. of California Cut a Deal With Major Journal Publisher
After faculty members at the University of California at San Francisco and at Santa Cruz called or threatened boycotts of Elsevier journals they thought were overpriced, the university negotiated a lower-priced contract for electronic access to about 1,200 of the publishing company's scientific and medical journals.
