Faculty Contact With Prospective Students

To the Editor:

I sympathized with Stephen M. Winzenburg's daughter as she traveled around the country with her father, attempting to learn enough to make informed choices about where she might like to go to college ("The Faculty Role in Admissions," Careers, October 20). But I couldn't help wonder why Professor Winzenburg places so much of the blame on the faculty members he and his daughter encountered (or, in some cases, failed to encounter). ...
