Facing Financial Difficulties, African Virtual U. Revamps Itself
Serious financial problems have beset the African Virtual University, the continent's largest online institution, forcing it to accelerate a major restructuring.
The university, which was established in 1997 by the World Bank as a link between foreign and African institutions, has been hampered by insufficient funds, difficulty buying materials needed by students, and a costly technological infrastructure, according to its rector, Kuzvinetsa Peter Dzvimbo.
