Facing Enrollment Crisis, Japanese Universities Fight to Attract Students
New strategies include fancy restaurants, swimming pools, and open houses
Even in a metropolis with four times as many restaurants as New York City, students here at Toyo University are spoiled for culinary choice. The private college boasts nine eateries, including a new food court serving Italian, Indian, Chinese, and Western food. Just up the road at the University of Tokyo, the smorgasbord includes Subway and Starbucks outlets, as well as nearly two dozen restaurants.
