The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s office in Portland, Ore., offered a $5,000 reward on Tuesday for help in finding the sender of dozens of threatening letters since 2004 that complain about television coverage of college cheerleaders. According to a news release issued by the FBI office, some of the letters contained a potentially harmful insecticide in powder form. Most of the letters were sent to TV stations, but some went to university athletics departments in Arizona, Michigan, and Ohio. The letters, which were sent from Portland, Seattle, and Chicago, complain about excessive close-ups of the cheerleaders, among other things.
