Experts Deconstruct Tuition Increases
To the Editor:
"College Too Pricey? Don't Blame Faculty Pay" (The Chronicle, November 7) makes an important point — that growth in faculty pay has not exceeded the rate of inflation. However, it also employs a way of judging tuition increases that is not only inaccurate and misleading, but also serves to perpetuate the myth that college costs are "too high" because colleges and universities are somehow "inefficient" or "fiscally irresponsible."
