Exotic Species Seriously Threaten Our Environment
In "Why Exotic Species Are Not as Bad as We Fear" (Opinion, June 23), Mark Sagoff appears to consider President Clinton's February 1999 executive order on invasive species as alarmist, and the activities of the new federal Invasive Species Council unwarranted. But growing evidence, not cited by Sagoff, indicates that those activities -- and the similar work of the Global Invasive Species Program, organized by the United Nations and other groups -- are not misguided.
