Existentialism Lives
To the Editor:
The interview with George Cotkin gives the impression that existentialism is an academically dead field (Verbatim, February 14). It doesn't look dead to me.
Consider this range of activities: a vibrant Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy, which publishes its voluminous proceedings in the journal Philosophy Today; a North American Sartre Society; a Simone de Beauvoir Society; a North American Nietzsche Society; and others. Heidegger is all over
