Ex-Admissions Dean at MIT Has a College Degree, Even if She Lacks 3

Marilee Jones has a college degree after all. Ms. Jones, who resigned suddenly last week as admissions dean at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after the three degrees on her résumé turned out to be bogus, was initially thought to lack a college education. And one major national newspaper reported that as fact. But today’s Boston Globe reports that Ms. Jones earned a biology degree in 1973 from the College of St. Rose, in Albany, N.Y., although she did not include that degree on her résumé in 1979, when she applied for her first MIT job. Ms. Jones, who in 28 years at MIT built a national reputation as a leader on admissions issues, has been refusing to talk to reporters. —Andrew Mytelka
