European Universities Move to Standardize Ph.D. Programs
Some of Europe's oldest and most prestigious universities issued a resolution last month that its supporters say will facilitate the mobility of doctoral candidates among the institutions.
Members of the Coimbra Group focused on the issue of quality standards in Ph.D. programs as part of a broader effort to harmonize the structures of higher education across the continent. The resolution, however, did not enjoy unanimous backing.
