European Scientists Dominate Nobel Prizes; Doris Lessing Wins for Literature
The Nobel Prizes in science and literature held surprises this year. The prizes in science mainly honored the work of European investigators, following last year's sweep by American researchers. Although two of the 2007 winners are U.S. citizens and work at universities here, most of the prize-winning research was done in Europe, and all but one of the winners were educated there. And the novelist Doris Lessing, at age 88, became the oldest winner of the prize in literature.
